The Veronicas dish the dirt on pashing Lara Flynn Boyle, fighting with Tara Reid, their love of prawns and their dream dates. Tell us more!

Living the dream
What’s the first thing you guys do when you get back to Australia?
Jess: Probably go buy some prawns from Woolworths or mud crab.

You can’t get prawns in the States?
Lisa: You can, but they’re not the same at all! They call them shrimp and they taste like rubber.
Jess: They’re not flavourful and good.
Lisa: Yeah, they’re really weird. When you go to a supermarket over there and you buy prawns they’re always shelled.
Jess: And I just don’t like the thought of someone else touching my prawns. I like good Australian prawns.

OK, so life’s pretty damn good for you two at the moment. Do you have to pinch yourselves to make sure it’s real and not just a dream?
Lisa: Yeah absolutely. You know sometimes you get so caught up in all the craziness and you don’t think about it and then every now and then we look at each other and go, “Oh, my god!”. We’ll pull each other aside and say, ‘Look at what we’re doing, look at what we have achieved! It’s crazy!’.
Jess: We’re definitely living the dream. What we’re doing, it’s so much bigger than what we expected.


Music makers

We want another album! What are our chances?
Lisa: You know, The Secret Life has just been released over in the States and it’s just been released in Canada and we’re still going to release in Japan and Europe so we’re pretty busy at the moment.
Jess: But at the end of this year, the start of next year, we’ll start writing for the second album.
Lisa: We’re always writing anyway so we have stuff in mind but we are mostly focusing on touring and releasing in those other countries.

OK, OK. You guys rock onstage. How do you psych up for a show?
Lisa: We eat a lot and drink a lot of Red Bull which I don’t really need.
Jess: And we sort of stand next to the stage and listen too the crowd and get psyched up and stuff.

What’s it like dating when you’re in the spotlight all the time?
Jess: I think it’s harder for Lisa or when you have a boyfriend that’s well known because people are always interested. We just laugh at it.
Lisa: It’s funny ‘cos we’ve been asked about Ashlee Simpson and Ryan so often now, that we’ll joke around and the next thing you know, it’s written in the papers as a serious quote!

What would be your dream date?
Jess: If someone bought me a mud crab, a bag of prawns and some Tim Tams and set it up like a big picnic and I could eat it all and they could watch!
Lisa: I would like to fly somewhere, like maybe go to France for breakfast, then I’d go to Italy for lunch. Then I’d fly back to Australia and have a big seafood buffet for dinner. But it’s all about the food.


My showbiz life

What was the last freebie you got?
Jess: Nu:u just gave us GHD hair straighteners. They’re about $300 so that was cool ‘cos they gave us some last time and we accidentally stuck them in the wrong socket and blew them up!

What has been the most cash you’ve blown in one day?Lisa: We bought four pairs of designer shoes to share in four different colours and that was like, $1000, but we’ll wear them everywhere.

Who’s a celeb you’ve had a fight with?
Lisa: Tara Reid. It wasn’t really a fight, I had more of a little run-in with her at a club and she didn’t like me very much… I got dared to go up to her and she acted like she was the big celebrity and she didn’t appreciate the fact that I was trying to talk to her.
Jess: She was a shank anyway. I mean, what was the last good movie she was in anyway?

Who’s a celeb you’ve kissed?
Lisa: Lara Flynn Boyle!
Jess: She’s crazy! She went to one of our concerts ‘cos apparently she really likes our music and she attacked us. Honestly, she ran up to us and started hugging and kissing us. She was really sweet.
